Make Your Own Chalice

Supplies
1. Chalice
Choose supplies to construct your chalice from the following examples, or make up your own idea
Examples - a terra cotta pot and dish, cupcake papers, rocks in different sizes, a soda bottle cut as shown, Legos, Sea Shells, Wood blocks
2. Adhesive
Choose the adhesive that will work best with your project
Examples: Tacky Glue, Wood Glue, Duct Tape in fun colors or designs, Blutack
3. Decorative Supplies
Go wild and choose anything that makes you happy - be sure it works with the material for your chalice
Examples: Paint, markers, gems, pompoms, stickers, photos or pictures of people or places that are important to you, lace or trim, ribbon
4. A light
Depending on the material you have chosen this can be a small candle, a battery operated votive or tea light, or even a flashlight. For paper or lightweight chalices, you could make a flame out of colored paper. Heck, you could even use a flame app on your phone. Whatever will help you focus on the moment (and won't catch your chalice on fire).

Terra Cotta Chalice

Invert your pot and place the saucer on top. Glue in place if desired.
Decorate as you wish.

Sea Shell, Rock, Wood block Chalice

Use a large shell/rock, or several smaller shells/rocks or blocks
If gluing multiple objects, it is best to have a neutral base (like a cardboard circle or paper plate) to glue them onto

Arrange as desired and glue if needed, using a glue that is appropriate for your material
Decorate as desired

Cupcake paper chalice

Use cupcake or muffin papers. Decorate with markers and crayons

Glue the bottoms together as shown.

Soda Bottle Chalice

(not for use with real flame)
1.Cut a soda bottle(with cap) into three pieces. Make the first cut across the bottom, making a kind of bowl shape. Make the second cut nearer the top, forming a kind of funnel shape with the neck of the bottle and several inches of the bottle itself. Leave the cap in place. Recycle the middle portion.
2. Use duct tape or other material to cover the rough edges if desired.
3. Take the top portion and set it cap facing up on the table. Sand the cap a little with sand paper or an emery board to produce a better adhesion
4. Take the bottom bowl like portion and set it on top of the cap, checking that you have it even
5. Using a glue that works with plastic, glue the bottom of the bottle onto the cap of the top of the bottle. This will make a chalice shape. You can also secure it with duct tape
Decorate as you wish once the glue is dry. If you want to do this a bit more quickly, decorate the pieces separately before gluing them together.
This picture gives you the idea - but it has you taping the necks of two bottles together, which is another, glue free option
