Looking for a way to honor the National Day of Service for MLK Day, or perhaps to do something for the community on Inauguration Day? Join us to come together as a community, craft cold-weather items for those in need, and discuss local efforts towards service and social justice. Crafters and non-crafters welcome!
This is a community event, free to attend, and open to all. We will be making scarves, hats, and other quick-to-create items for Chase the Chill: a First Church program to supply our community with warm items that are free to anyone in need. We will have a small supply of donated materials, but if you are a crafter, you are encouraged to bring in any yarn, fleece, and tools that you are able to use or share. You are also welcome to make things ahead of time and bring them in!
As we craft, we will also have an opportunity to eat snacks, get to know each other, and discuss the good work that is already happening in Salem and what else we feel like we might be able to accomplish together. We will share resources, brainstorm, and work to create some physical and metaphorical warmth.
Please join us at the First Church in Salem, anytime between 12 and 4.
