Fall Fairie Furnishings Workshop

  • First Church in Salem 316 Essex Street Salem, MA, 01970 United States (map)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be hiking out in the woods and stumble across an actual fairy house? Are you charmed by the little fairy house forest walks that pop up in spring and fall here in New England? Have you ever looked at a fairy house and thought, “I could do that?” but even as you think it you know in your secret heart you will not ever get it together to do so on your own? Do you believe in, or want to believe in, magic? Well, if you answered yes to any or all of these questions, this is the workshop for you.

We will explore a little bit about fairy lore and culture from a Celtic perspective, look into some historic fairy appearances, and make our own small furnishings to tempt friendly fairies into our homes, or placate them and keep them out, depending on your point of view.

By the end of the workshop you will leave with a little piece of fairy furniture perfect for display or use by small unseen new friends. As we work you can even develop your own lore about the fairies you envision using your creation.

Come have fun, create, and get your fall fairy mystique on with us!

What will be Provided:

  • A small piece of furniture

  • Embellishments

  • Basic craft supplies like glue, paint and brushes

What to Bring/Wear/Prepare for:

  • Wear comfortable clothes that can get messy

  • Making fairy objects takes time and patience. There is often downtime between steps.
